Bird Scarers
A collection of vector drawings printed on german etching paper.
We used to play-out behind the Tube Works,
near an orange river of rust and slime;
noxiously trickling by. It's all gone now,
along with the prized chrysants and
"jack up!" shouts from the bowling green.
At the end of my garden are allotments;
a quiet place to grow potatoes and broadbeans,
down by a patch of sweet gooseberries.
The top end of my hearing has passed away,
with the grinders, hammers and welding torches.
There'll be butterflies and dogs
on the five pits trail today.
But I'm searching for these names:
Staveley Chemicals, Markham's Engineering,
Donkin's Foundry and Wagon Repairs.
